About

Pastor Paul & Holly

e-thos (ē’thŏs’): The disposition, character, or fundamental values peculiar to a specific person, people, culture, or movement.

Ultimately a church should be known by how it changes the community and the world for the better and by the types of Christ-followers it has.

Maybe we can understand it this way: Will the Generations Church community become such a force of good, become so compassionate, that if our church were to suddenly disappear, would Prince Edward county feel a profound sense of loss? Can we have this kind of impact in the world we live in? Can we be those types of people?

We think we can.

Heather & Holly

Heather grew up in Maine and I grew up in Maryland. We met at Eastern Nazarene College, Quincy, MA, where we fell in love and were married July 30, 1994. We have enjoyed many years of wonderful marriage and on May 9th, 2008 we welcomed Holly Renee Willis into our lives.

Pastor Brian Powell

My call to ministry was answered while attending Raleigh First Church of the Nazarene in Raleigh, NC. The Lord had been working on my heart for some time regarding ministry. You can call it reluctance or fear, but the truth is I had been backing away from the responsibility of full time ministry since college.  It was Pastor Brian Powell at Raleigh First who helped me to act on my calling. Brian informed me that the gifts and calling are without repentance; after prayer and a little guidance by Brian, I accepted my calling to full time ministry. I quickly launched into my graduate studies (Master of Divinity at Northwest Nazarene University) because I know that a calling to ministry is a calling to prepare.

Pastor Stephen Willis

Pastor Stephen Willis

It was not long after my initial calling to ministry that I began to feel a tug, a specialized call you may say, to launch a new church, specifically in Virginia. It was within the week that I received a call from Stephen Willis, Pastor of the Lynchburg First Church of the Nazarene. He said that God has laid on his heart and the heart of his church a desire for a new church in Farmville Virginia.

It was out of these partnerships, friendships, and vision to serve the Farmville community that Generations Church of VA was conceived. Needless to say, God was and is showing up and showing off in a mighty way.

Generations: Who Are We?

Generations Church is a holiness, missional, Christian community.

We are a church after the missio dei, God who is sent. We are joined together around a dream and a call to build a community in our town with Jesus Christ at the center of mission. Our desire is that we would be a sent, authentic community where people experience and express the reality of God’s love in the way of Jesus.

"You, Lord, reign forever; your throne endures from generation to generation."
